The Statistics Agency of Kosovo (ASK) has raised the alarm for a very endangered category of society.
It is about young people (aged 15 to 24) who are neither in school, nor employed, nor in any specific training.
“Exactly 106 thousand and 287 young people are in this category”, says the ASK report, “Workforce Survey”.
Young people in this group (NEET) include young people who are not employed, not in school, not in training, which means that they are completely disconnected from the labor market and do not even participate in the education system. The high proportion of this group in the youth population raises concerns about future youth employment as it indicates disengagement from the labor market.
In addition, a large number of unemployed youth in countries with high youth unemployment, such as Kosovo, may cause earnings to decrease due to increased competition, and may contribute to social problems.”, KAS assesses in this report.
