The crisis in the global financial markets in recent months is having an enormous impact on the external investments of the Kosovo Pension Fund. As a result of this, the Trust until August has lost no less than 161 million euros from the decline in the value of its assets in these markets.
In the most recent report of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK), where the monthly information of the financial system in the country is revealed, in August of this year, the return on the Trust’s investments was -161 million euros.
In fact, economic experts estimate that until the disturbances in the international markets continue, the money of the contributors will continuously record losses.
During this period (August), new contributions to the Trust reached 116.2 million euros, while the value of the share price was 1.65 euros, reports the Economic Bulletin.
The value of external net assets invested by Kosovo Pension Funds until August of this year was a total of 1 billion and 613.5 million euros.
Meanwhile, the total value of the assets of the Kosovo Pension Fund is 2 billion and 283 million euros, of which 2 billion and 274.5 million belong to the Kosovo Pension Savings Fund (FKPK), while 8.5 million are assets of the Slovenian-Kosovar Fund of Pensions (FSKP).
As for the Slovenian-Kosovar Pension Fund, the return on investments was -801.6 thousand euros, while the new contributions were worth 294.9 thousand euros. However, the value of the share price was 188.10 euros (Basic value of the share: FKPK = 1; FSKP = 100).
Otherwise, according to the laws in force in Kosovo, 70 percent of the Trust’s funds are invested in international financial markets in long-term periods, in order to increase their value, while 30 percent are invested in securities in Kosovo.
