The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, said that the cost of importing electricity this winter is expected to be around 350 million euros.
In the session of the Assembly of Kosovo, she said that in the period from October 2022 to March 2023, it is expected to import about 722 megawatts per hour of electricity.
“As for the forecast of the amount of import, it is estimated that in the period from October 2022 to March 2023 in the scenario of supplying 2A and 2B and from time to time also 3A will be about 722 megawatts per hour, while as for the value if we assume that the import price will be 500 megawatts per hour, then the import cost for the period from October 2022 to March 2023 would be around 350 million euros”, she said.
The Minister of Economy added that the production of electricity from KEK and renewable sources is expected to be 3.2 million megawatts.
“Electricity production from KEK and renewable energy sources for the period from October 2022 to March 2023 is expected to be around 3.2 million megawatt hours, during the month of October two blocks of the Kosova B thermal power plant and one of the thermal power plants will be in operation Kosovo A, while two blocks of A and two blocks of B are expected to be in operation from November. With the commissioning of the A5 unit, there will be more energy available, but due to the age of these units of the two power plants, of course, the safety and reliability of these units is not at the level we would like”, said Rizvanolli.
