The vice-president of the Chamber of Doctors of Kosovo, Naser Gjonbalaj, declared that 173 doctors have fled from Kosovo this year.
“70.06% of those who have graduated and obtained a license in the Chamber of Doctors have left Kosovo”, he said.
Gjonbalaj emphasized that the main issue behind doctors leaving is the low salaries.
Asked if increasing salaries solves all problems in the health system, Gjonbalaj answered that “It doesn’t, but it brings opportunities”.
Gjonbalaj, says that the departure of doctors from Kosovo is a growing trend.
He says that the fleeing of doctors and the constant absence is very disturbing. According to him, if this trend continues, the waiting list will be extended.
“However, this waiting list has become a saga, even though there are waiting lists in all countries of the world in health care. It should be emphasized that in terms of emergencies, there is no waiting list. So, there are sufficient capacities for emergency cases”, he said on RTV21.
